As a Maine photographer, I’ve explored several great photo locations on the midcoast in Maine! I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite locations, with pros, cons, and photo examples!
Rockland Breakwater
Pros: great ocean backdrop, waterfront access, lighthouse access/view
Cons: lots of walking, limited parking, path to lighthouse can be dangerous for young kids
Perfect for: engagements, proposals, couples, families
Owls Head State Park
Pros: great ocean backdrop, rocky cliffs and tree backdrop, waterfront access, lighthouse access/view, parking lot
Cons: lots of walking, need to time with high and low tide if wanting to access the waterfront area
Perfect for: engagements, proposals, couples, families
Camden Harbor Park
Pros: great ocean backdrop, boats in backdrop (usually), waterfront access, expansive area
Cons: limited parking
Perfect for: engagements, proposals, couples, families
Ocean Point, East Boothbay
Pros: great ocean backdrop, waterfront access, expansive area, beautiful sunset views
Cons: limited parking, some areas can be dangerous/inaccessible

Downtown Boothbay Harbor
Pros: urban/downtown vibe, waterfront access
Cons: limited parking, can be very busy during the summer

Pemaquid Beach
Pros: great ocean backdrop, waterfront access, expansive area, soft white sand, parking lot
Cons: none!
Perfect for: engagements, proposals, couples, families
Pemaquid Point
Pros: great ocean backdrop, waterfront access, expansive area, coastal setting, parking lot
Cons: could be difficult to walk if you have any accessibility limitations
